Creating SoundPacks is done in five main stages:
If you have already made the SoundPack, then you can jump straight in at step 4.
Open the Database dialog, using either the command
!aldatabase
or using the menus (on either the contact list window, or any conversation window)
Plus! \ Audiator Live! \ Configuration \ Database
Click the Create button, give your SoundPack a name, and click OK.
Select all the sound files you wish to have in your SoundPack, and move them into the proper directory. This will probably be
C:\Program Files\Messenger Plus! Live\Scripts\Audiator Live!\Resources\SoundPack name\
(but it may be different, if for example you are using a non-english version of windows).
With the Database dialog still open, select the new SoundPack in the SoundPacks list. For each of your sounds, click the Add sound button, and fill out the details.
With your new SoundPack still selected in the list, click the Export SoundPack button. It will launch a new dialog like the one shown below. Fill out the details as shown, and click the OK button.
The Export SoundPack Dialog
What it does:
This box is where you should type your name, so that people know who made the SoundPack they are
about to install.
What it does:
This box is where you should give a description for your SoundPack. You should aim to describe what
kind of sounds are in your pack so people can see what they are installing.
What it does:
If you like, you can specify an option homepage in this box. If you do not want to specify a URL,
just leave this box blank.
This is the only stage that is challenging in the slightest. You must package the sound files, and the SoundPack definition file into a zip archive, with the correct structure. It should have the following structure:
Resources\SoundPack name\sound files.mp3
Resources\SoundPacks\SoundPack definition file.xml
The easiest way to do this will be to browse to the Audiator Live! directory, which will most likely be
C:\Program Files\Messenger Plus! Live\Scripts\Audiator Live!\
and zip the Resources folder. Then edit the zip file in whichever archive utility you prefer, and remove all the other files.
This zip file is now ready for distributing!
